Did you know that papaya is great for digestion? The tropical fruit is loaded with enzymes and antioxidants that help the body detox. It’s also a super tasty ingredient for smoothies. If you’re looking to switch up your normal recipe, it’s time to try this Papaya Strawberry Smoothie.

Strawberries also marry well with papaya and add additional vitamins C and A, of which this recipe is extremely high in. The two fruits also make for a beautiful smoothie that others nearby will ask, "Hey, what are you drinking?"

The other key ingredient is goat milk kefir, one of my favorite adds to smoothies. It's a great probiotic food so along with papaya, this smoothie is very gut-friendly. Plus, kefir has just the right texture, like a runny yogurt. (Trader Joe's makes a great unsweetened goat milk kefir.) If you use dairy, you can also go with a standard kefir or even a Greek yogurt. If you're a vegan, try coconut kefir.

Of course, the secret power ingredient in Multi Collagen Protein Vanilla, which helps support healthy joints, hair, nails, gut and skin. This collagen powder mixes beautifully and has just enough vanilla flavor to compliment this papaya smoothie.

If you want to increase the taste of the tropics, use our Multi Collagen Protein Beauty Within powder that's flavored guava passionfruit. You won't be sorry!

Together, these ingredients make for a balanced breakfast or post-workout snack. At 306 calories, it includes 42 grams of carbohydrates, 9 grams of fat and 19 grams of protein.

How to Make a Papaya Smoothie

First, prep the fruit. Rinse the strawberries and de-stem them. Ideally, use organic strawberries because conventional berries tend to hold onto more pesticide residue than other fruits.

Papaya can be purchased in most stores today. Unripe papaya has a green skin while the ripe version tends to be more orange-yellow. It can be difficult to get prime papaya like you'd have in Hawaii, so the fruit may still have a green skin but ready to eat. The outer skin and flesh underneath should be softer to the touch.

Cut open the papaya length-wise. Scoop out the seeds. Then cut out one cup's worth and save the rest in the fridge.

Add the fruit, kefir, collagen powder, water and ice to a power blender and blend on high. If too thick, add a little more water.

Also, try my collagen-based chia seed smoothie bowl for a nice switch-up.
