Ancient Nutrition co-founder, chiropractor, clinical nutritionist and certified doctor of natural medicine is here to answer your questions!

Why is this zinc supplement different than many others on the market?

We carefully source an enzyme activated form of zinc for this supplement. An essential mineral that’s second only to iron in its concentration in the body, zinc is often referred to as the “intelligence mineral.” Functionally, the liver also needs zinc in sufficient amounts so it can mobilize and release stored vitamin A into the bloodstream. We then combined it with a soil-based organism (S.B.O) probiotic to pack in extra benefits to take these capsules to the next level.

What does Bacillus subtilis do?

Here are a few of the benefits of this probiotic strain…

  • Supports normal microflora in the gut‚Ć
  • Supports healthy gut function‚Ć
  • Promotes digestive health‚Ć
  • Supports normal digestion‚Ć
  • Supports a healthy immune system‚Ć
  • Promotes a healthy GI tract‚Ć

What form of zinc is found in this formulation?

This is a whole-food fermented, enzyme activated zinc. “Enzyme activated” zinc differs from elemental zinc or amino acid chelated zinc where it is bound to one or two things. This form is typically much more recognizable to the body than zinc gluconate or others on the market.

What form is this vitamin C and why is it important?

This vitamin C is in the form of lipid metabolite ascorbate. Ascorbic acid is vitamin C in chemical form. In this case, the ascorbic acid is reacted with lipid metabolites (fats) that surround and coat the vitamin C (ascorbate). This is the powdered version of a liposome. Why is a liposome in this Vitamin C supplement? So that it becomes water soluble! In other words, this clinically studied proprietary vitamin C is generally more absorbable than other forms.

How is this vitamin C different than many others on the market?

We carefully sourced a soil-based organism probiotic, Bacillus subtilis, and combined it with Vitamin C. When these two ingredients are combined, benefits are delivered that go beyond immune health. Enjoy benefits from Bacillus subtilis like support for a healthy gut microflora† and more.

How is Ancient Nutrients Vitamin D different from Fermented Vitamin D?

You’ll get the power of fermented vitamin D3 in the new Ancient Nutrients Vitamin D, but will also enjoy a host of botanicals, mushroom extracts and other superfood ingredients inspired by the Traditional Chinese Method (TCM). The old Vitamin D3 formula did not include this TCM focus. Just like the old formula, the updated formula contains 5,000 IU of fermented vitamin D3.

Why is vitamin D so important?

Essential for proper absorption and metabolism of calcium, phosphorus, and other nutrients, vitamin D is amazing. Did you know that without enough vitamin D, calcium is often limited in its absorption?

Most of us understand the power of vitamin D, but did you know that it plays a role in up to 2,000 genes and in every single tissue and cell of the body? However, it’s estimated that up to 75 percent of American teens and adults don’t get enough vitamin D in their diet.

Why do many people come up short on vitamin D? Here are a few reasons: Older people make less vitamin D than younger people do when exposed to sunlight, but some people avoid being out in the sun altogether — meaning they aren’t making vitamin D at a rate necessary for overall health.

Where you live in the continental United States can make a difference, too. For example, if you live north of an imaginary line that stretches from the northern border of California to Boston, then the ultraviolet energy is not enough for vitamin D synthesis for four to six months out of the year. Then there’s diet. The typical American diet doesn’t provide adequate amounts of vitamin D.

You may know, too, that vitamin D is actually a potent hormone and comes in two forms: vitamin D2 and vitamin D3 — with D3 being the preferred form. That’s why there’s Ancient Nutrients Vitamin D in vitamin D3 form..

Is supplementation really necessary?

For many Americans the diet consumed isn’t nutritionally adequate. In fact, approximately two-thirds of the standard U.S. diet is made up of unhealthy fats and refined sugars with low or no nutrient density — providing calories but not the amounts of vitamins and minerals needed, including vitamins A, B Complex, C, D, E and the minerals calcium, magnesium and zinc.

More specifically, typical diets contain less than 80% of the RDA for calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, and manganese—and the people who are most at risk for coming up short on those nutrients are adult women and teenage girls.

Here’s the truth: If two-thirds of the standard U.S. diets are coming up short on certain nutrients, then the remaining one-third of the average diet may not be so great, either, and cannot possibly fully meet a person’s nutrient needs. One great way to get more vitamins and minerals into your diet is to include nutrient-dense, real foods. Unlike our Standard American Diet, nutrient-dense foods can deliver a vitamin-packed and mineral-packed wallop. In addition to a nutrient-dense diet, some opt to take a multivitamin to help cover their bases.
