The Bone Broth Protein™ Quality Story
At Ancient Nutrition, we’re committed to sourcing and manufacturing all our products to the highest standards possible, one part of which includes using multiple third-parties.
You can rest assured knowing that any product provided by Ancient Nutrition is something I would feel comfortable providing to my family, friends and co-workers — because it’s just that good.
What Is Ancient Nutrition's Bone Broth Protein?
Bone Broth Protein is one of the fastest-growing proteins on the planet. Why are so many people talking about it? For one, it’s a super clean source of protein.
Second, Bone Broth Protein and Organic Bone Broth Protein are non GMO, soy free, wheat free and gluten free.
Bone Broth Protein is also chock-full of amino acids, Type II Collagen, body-building proteins and more.
Bone Broth Protein chickens are raised in farms across the U.S. Midwest. When we released our first-ever Bone Broth Protein on the market, it was our No. 1 priority to make sure the ingredients were the highest-quality and safest available options.
While our Bone Broth Protein products are Non GMO, there is not currently a free-range standard for the animals raised for those products. We are working aggressively to establish and verify Animal Wellness Certification standards throughout our entire supply chain.
What Does Organic Really Mean for our Organic Bone Broth Protein?
There are limited sources of organic ingredients that meet our quality requirements in the large quantities required to create the organic line of bone broth–based supplements. Raw material providers needed time to develop a process that could meet the demand of this product. Creating an organic line has always been part of the plan, and we’re excited we can now offer Organic Bone Broth Protein products in so many delicious flavor options.
What does organic mean, then? It means more nutrients and less toxins — for you AND for the planet.
All animal-based bone broth products manufactured and sold through our Supply Partners are manufactured under the inspection of the USDA, Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). These raw materials are also monitored by the USDA under the National Residue Program (NRP).
The FSIS works with two other primary agencies: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the FDA to accomplish the responsibilities set forth by the National Residue Program (NRP).
The Food Safety and Inspection Service's Primary Mission under the NRP is to verify that establishments control animal drug residues, pesticides, environmental contaminants and any other chemical hazards in and on animal-based products.
These tolerances and guidelines have been published in Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR) and these aforementioned regulatory controls are in combination with a robust Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HAACP) program that ensures the wholesomeness of our bone broth–based ingredients.
We offer Organic Bone Broth Protein as an alternative, “meatier,” organic formula that includes the meaty bone vs. stripped bone, plus branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), Type II Collagen, and a complete profile of both muscle-building and connective tissue–building proteins. Due to the nature of the formulation of our Organic Bone Broth Protein, the consistency is more “substantial” than our original Bone Broth Protein formula.
Heavy Metal Testing Results
One major test on all Bone Broth Protein and Organic Bone Broth Protein products involves heavy metal testing. These tests are always conducted by a third-party agency.
For all four major heavy metals, our products contain non-detectable levels or below detectable levels. This means that arsenic, cadmium, lead and mercury are found in such low levels, if at all, that they can’t be detected.
To give you a comparison for how this lines up with other organic supplements on the market, consider that widely used organic flax seed, organic green tea and more contain detectable levels of one or more of these heavy metals, while our bone broth products do not.
Environmental Chemicals Testing Results
We also test for environmental chemicals. A third-party agency tests for over 275 environmental chemicals, and every single one has come back non-detected. These chemicals are some basic ingredients in pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals that you definitely don’t want in your nutritional supplements.
Ninety-eight organohalides were tested, and all found to be non-detectable. These substances are found in some plastic polymers and pharmaceuticals.
Sixty-eight organophosphates were tested; all are non-detectable. Organophosphates are commonly the basis of many insecticides, herbicides and nerve agents.
Thirteen methyl carbonates were tested; all are non-detectable.
Seventy-two organonitrogens, a common pesticide base, were tested, and all are non-detectable.
Twenty-five additional organic chemicals were also tested, all with non-detectable results.
Three classes of residual solvents tested (Class I, Class IIA and Class IIB), and all were non-detectable.
Antibiotic Testing Results
All poultry used in our bone broth products (both the non-organic and organic lines) is sold under the USDA mark of inspection. By law, no poultry bearing this inspection may contain antibiotics.
This means that every Ancient Nutrition bone broth product is free of all 12 major classes of antibiotics, thanks to our suppliers and the oversight of the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Our Supply and Ingredient Partnerships
When I put my stamp of approval on a product, I know that it contains ingredients from partners I trust. The suppliers and manufacturers we use all share our deep commitment to quality and safety, backed by consistent third-party testing and accountability.
