More about this item

Clary sage is well-known for having calming properties and for supporting healthy skin. Its relaxing, soothing, and balancing properties are due to its main chemical component, linalyl acetate.

Its use is recorded back to the Middle Ages, during which time it was used to soothe skin.

However, inhaling clary sage also helps to promote feelings of relaxation, helping to support a restful night’s sleep.

Clary sage gets its name from the Latin word clarus, meaning “clear.” Referred to as “clear eyes” during the Middle Ages, clary sage oil is often used to support the health of the eyes, including tired or strained eyes.

Due to its pleasing fragrance, clary sage is often added to creams, lotions, perfumes and other items.

  • Add a drop or two to lotions, shampoos or conditioners for a pleasant aroma, stress relief, and healthy hair and scalp.
  • Add a few drops to diffusers to help alleviate tension and soothe emotions.
  • Use topically as a moisturizer to help with skin health.
  • Add a few drops to bathwater to help with minor, everyday discomforts and stress.
  • For women during menstruation, rub three-to-five drops directly on the abdomen for relief.
  • Apply to feet or pulse points for hormonal balance.
  • Diffuse at nighttime or apply to pillow at nighttime for a restful sleep.
